A Wise & Simple New Age Guide
Sharings From the Heart of Julia White
Innerspace, The Teachings of Julia White is designed to teach about Metaphysics, Native Americana, "spirit work," healing emotional wounds and finding meaning (and fun) in this life.
Julia tells her own story of being born to Native American and German heritage. Until her mother died, Julia was unable to find out anything about the Native American side of her family.
In her site, the theme of 'searching for roots' recurs. In addition to historical information about Native Americans, including Women Spirit -- stories about women from various tribes -- she has excerpts from Animal Walk about "totems," how knowing their traditional Native American meanings can help you get to know yourself more deeply.
What exactly IS New Age? What exactly IS Metaphysical? Julia includes a glossary from The Donning International Encyclopedic Psychic Dictionary:
"METAPHYSICAL Beyond the physical. Any activity that is carried out by the mind vs. by the body. Deciding what to wear is a 'metaphysical' act. Actually putting the clothing on is a 'physical' act."
Julia White is a writer of great warmth and simplicity, and is wise enough, old enough, and funny enough to have a section called Tips from the Crone.
Question from the webmaster (mistress?): How do I keep my feet warm in these cold Georgia mountains?
Answer from the Crone: If you can't get a warm man, try a hot brick wrapped in flannel. :)
Her site includes an entire workshop for gaining self-knowledge, Re-Creating You , a Q&A; with answers to readers' questions about Meditation, self-healing, coming to terms with non-comprehending loved ones who view anything "New Age" as being akin to devil-worship, as well as The Funnybone with quips and quotes from everyone from Mark Twain to Erma Bombeck.
If you are a New Age fan, this site will make you feel right at home. If you are NOT a New Age fan, this site just might make you become one.

Amazon City: the First City for Women
Built by and for women, the site is set up as a city with a town square, a train and named sections. Has chat, a search engine, a connection to Amazon Books, and Amazon City Radio. Soon to offer free home pages, too. Great stuff!
WWWomen Directory
Biggest search engine there is, for Women's Sites.
Women Online Net
Big search engine for women's sites.
Marshall House: Affirmations and Empowerment
Jeanie Marshall has put up an impressively interlinked site of "Affirmations" and articles about empowerment of people, groups, countries... New Agey but not airy fairie, Jeanie talks about "severing the bonds of oppression" and stuff like that. But she looks like a prettier version of Ethel Mertz.
Beatrice's Web Guide/update
Women's Wire and Yahoo joined forces to create Beatrice -- your know-it-all but fun next door neighbor. She has red hair and pointy 50's glasses so she's sorta hip. UPDATE 5/15/97: Beatrice has had a face lift. She also dyed her hair a more auburn color. Looks 20 years younger, and, alas, waaaay less wise. Ah well.
