One of my favorite hobbies when it comes to Trek is Nitpicking. This is the art of finding errors in a show, and it has become quite a cult among Trekkies.
Nits can come in a variety of forms. I specialize in plot oversights and errors. This would be things like...how can changing the DNA immediately change what the person looks like? Or why captains seem to ignore the Prime Directive when it suits the plot.
Next you have the production errors. These are great fun to hunt down on tapes...little editing errors where someone's arm jumps from shot to shot, etc.
We then have changed premises. These are cases where things that are established at one point are tossed out the window for another episode. For example, if no money exists in the 24th century, what are the poker chips for?
Nitpicking a show doesn't mean you don't love it...the way I see it, it means we love it enough to pay attention to every minute detail!
